Ở phần đầu tiên khi Metro 2033 bước từ cuốn tiểu thuyết nổi tiếng cùng tên sang thể loại giải trí tương tác, nó đã nhận được khá nhiều lời khen ngợi từ giới chuyên môn, với một cốt truyện tuyệt vời, cùng với đó là sự pha trộn một cách rất hợp lý giữa hai thể loại hành động và kinh dị.

Tiếp nối thành công của người tiền nhiệm, Metro: Last Light cũng được đặt vào rất nhiều sự kỳ vọng từ phía cộng đồng người hâm mộ. Và để chứng minh sự tin tưởng đó, mới đây, 4A Games đã tung ra một đoạn Video chưa hề được biên tập so với Demo trước đây, đoạn Gameplay đã giúp Metro: Last Light được đề cử hơn 20 giải thưởng lớn nhỏ tại kỳ E3 vừa qua.

Câu chuyện của Metro: Last Light vẫn sẽ theo chân nhân vật chính ở phần trước là Artyom, sau khi "dường như" đã tiêu diệt được toàn bộ loài Dark Ones (ở Bad Ending) , nhưng nay anh cùng với những người bạn của mình, trong đó có Khan và rất nhiều Rangers khác, bảo vệ căn cứ D6 khỏi các thế lực bên ngoài. Trong đoạn Gameplay, người xem vẫn có thể nhận ra những điều quen thuộc ở phiên bản 2033, nay được tái hiện lại trong Last Light.

Từ những vũ khí như súng tiểu liên Bastard hay Duplet – Khẩu Shotgun hai nòng. Nhưng bên cạnh những vũ khí quen thuộc, Game vẫn sẽ mang tới một bộ sưu tập khác hoàn toàn, từ một loại súng trường mới kết hợp giữa Moshin-Nagant và Schmidt-Rubin K31, tới Surprise – khẩu súng bắn tỉa dựa theo thiết kế của PTRD thời thế chiến thứ 2, hay như người anh em của nó, súng chống tăng PTRS-41. Bên cạnh đó còn là súng máy nòng xoay, sung phun lửa và súng phóng lựu tự chế..

Bên cạnh đó, chúng ta vẫn nhận ra hệ thống dưỡng khí với chiếc mặt nạ phòng độc đặc trưng, quen thuộc ở Metro 2033, nhưng nay đã được cải tiến với chiếc đồng hồ điện tử thông báo chính xác và dễ nhận biết hơn. Nhưng đi kèm với việc đảm bảo sự an toàn cho môi trường nhiễm độc và phóng xạ trong Game, chiếc mặt nạ nay còn đem tới một sự thử thách mới.
